The "Test Your Financial IQ" Contest, which is intended for Canadians from 15 to 21 years of age, took place from March 1 to 31, 2006. The on-line contest featured questions and information on budgeting, saving and investing. Participants were encouraged to learn about financial matters and answer questions using hyperlinks to useful sites.
With 21,815 contestants, this year’s edition has shown once again that young Canadians are interested in becoming more knowledgeable about savings and investments. "I am delighted to note that young people are increasingly keen on matters related to savings and investments," said CSA Chair Jean St-Gelais.
Teachers were also invited to take part in the contest. Many visited the contest website and took advantage of available tools as part of their classroom discussions. By responding to the survey, some 100 teachers had a chance at winning a $100 gift certificate.
Young people can look forward to another edition of the CSA contest next year!
